Not men, but women come from Mars
Women are not more cooperative then men, VU researchers discovered.
According to stereotypes, women are thought to be more friendly, social and helpful then men. However, these stereotypes are not supported by research on cooperation, VU researchers Daniel Balliet and Mark van Vugt discovered. They looked into 272 studies with 31,642 participants in 18 different countries and found no overall difference in how men and women cooperate. There were differences between men and women in cooperation during specific situations. Notably, men amongst each other proved to be more cooperative then women amongst each other. Contrary, women proved to be more cooperative then men when they are in a mixed-sex group.
