The programme in a nutshell


The Master’s programme in Artificial Intelligence lasts two years and consists of 120 ECTS credits. Whichever specialization you choose, you complete your programme by writing a thesis. You can opt for one of five specializations:

  • Knowledge Technology and Intelligent Internet Applications
  • Cognitive Science 
  • Computational Intelligence and Self-organization
  • Technical Artificial Intelligence 
  • Artificial Intelligence and Communication

The Master’s programme in Artificial Intelligence at a glance:

  • You work in study groups and attend supporting lectures 
  • You study research methods and techniques 
  • You conduct your own research 
  • You write a Master’s thesis 
  • Compulsory and elective subjects

How your programme is structured depends upon which specialization you choose. Each consists of both compulsory and elective subjects. A typical example of a compulsory component is Knowledge Management and Modelling. It covers the organizational aspects of knowledge management as well as teaching you how knowledge can be described using modern information modelling techniques. Evolutionary Computing is another compulsory subject.
