Grants for Research Master projects
All students who do their research project abroad will get one or more grants.
In Europe
Erasmus Grant for Work Placements
For internships within the European Union and Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Turkey, you can get a monthly Erasmus scholarship of €200. Ask Job Mulder for the application forms.
Outside Europe
University grants
- FPP Travel Grant
The grant will cover half of your international travel expenses, up to a maximum of €500. It can be combined with VU Univeristy Funds Desk Scholarship or the VU Globe Scholarship

A monthly grant of €100, with a maximum of €300. It can be combined with the FPP Travel Grant but not with the VU Globe Scholarship

A monthly grant of €100, with a maximum of €300. It can be combined with the FPP Travel Grant. Only for partner universities of FPP outside the EU: Stellenbosch University (South Africa, North West University (South Africa), Tel Aviv University (Israel) , Welzijnsinstituut Nickerie (Surinam). Private funds
The university funds can be combined with private funds. You can search for them with Grantfinder or the Dutch version Beursopener.
- Schuurman Schimmel - Van Outeren Fonds offers grants to students of all nationalities. Most others offer only scholarships for students of Dutch or Surinam nationality, such as
- Stichting Fundatie van de Vrijvrouwe van Renswoude and
- Dr. Hendrik Muller's Vaderlandsch Fonds and
- HSP Talentenprogramma (minimum stay of 6 months).
Some private funds request a letter from a student dean (studentendecaan). For our Psychology and Education this is ms. Marjorie Wielkens. You can ask her for this letter, at the latest 3 weeks before the deadline of the fund.
