Sign up for courses and exams
You need to register for all courses in VUnet (http://vunet.vu.nl). The deadline for registration is four weeks before the start of the first class. You can access VUnet via the internet from any computer to complete the registration. Your VUnet login codes will be sent to you before you start your studies. A print-out of your registration in VUnet can be used as proof of the registration when necessary.
Advice: To prevent possible problems, don’t wait till the last day to register.
Combined registration (course and exam)
By registering for the course in VUnet, you will also be automatically registered for the first upcoming exam in the course. You will also be given access to the Blackboard site of this course. Enrolling directly in Blackboard is no longer possible; you always have to register using VUnet. Please make sure you register in time, otherwise you won’t have access to information posted on Blackboard about the course you are planning to take.
For all courses you need to register at “My study” and then go to “Subscribe courses and exams” in VUnet.
Registration just for an exam
When you don’t want to follow the course, but just want to take the exam (e.g. in the case of a resit), you need to register for the exam in VUnet.
Registration periods
Registration via VUnet is possible from the start of July preceding the new study year for the courses in the first semester (periods 1, 2, and 3). You can register for courses scheduled in the second semester (periods 4, 5, and 6) from mid December in the current study year.
If registration periods or rules are different for a specific course, you will find this information in the course descriptions of these courses in the study guide.
Registration deadlines
1. Deadline for a combined registration (course including exam) is 4 weeks before the start of the course (exception is made for courses starting in period 1, these have a deadline of October 1).
2. Deadline for registration for an exam only is 2 weeks before the day the exam takes place.
3. If the deadlines are different for a specific course, it will be mentioned in the course descriptions of these courses in the study guide.
Sanctions for late registration for courses and exams
When you are not registered in VUnet you will only be admitted to a course or exam if the facilities allow this. Practical courses or workshops may already be full.
If you want to register for a course after the deadline, you need to contact the study secretariat. If you are admitted into the course, an administration fee of € 25,- will be charged.
If you participate in an exam without being registered for it you will have to pay € 25,-- as an administration cost. The exam will not be evaluated until you have paid this fee.
You will not be able to register for the next exam opportunity until you have paid and your exam is evaluated. Illness does not count as valid reason to deviate from the registration deadline.
