Study Facilities
In the basement of the FPP building we have 4 computer work rooms, with a total of 80 computers. These computer rooms are used for teaching, and a schedule is always posted at the door of each room. When not used for teaching, students can work in them. The schedule can also be checked online
For more information (in Dutch) on these rooms see the ITM website (Dutch).
There is also a Master student work room at the first floor. It has no computers, but does have (as have all VU buildings) wireless internet access.
Printing and copying
Near the computer work rooms there are also printing and copying facilities, which require a chip-card. The chip-card can be loaded from the machine that you find at the ground floor of the FPP building, in the sitting area.
Programme secretariat
The Programme Secretariat is the front desk / administration and main access point of the faculty. The staff there can help you with any questions you have regarding examination times and rooms, registration for courses and exams, inquiring about extra optional subjects and applying for your course or degree certificate. You can find more information and opening hours here
VU University Facilities
University Library
Finding and consulting academic literature is an essential part of your studies. The university library will be glad to assist in finding the right resources to help you.
ICT Facilities
All students registered at VU University get a VU-net-ID. With this, they have access to several ICT services as Blackboard (digital learning environment), UBVU (e-Journals, e-Resources), TIS (Examination Information System), University email and file services and more. And you’ll find here more information on other ICT facilities like Blackboard, Webmail, TIS etc. as well.
The VU book store
The VU book shop stores all text books used for classes, as well as a nice selection of literature and magazines. It also functions as a stationary, so you can get your office supplies at the same place.
Guidance and Counseling
All research master students are assigned to a mentor. The mentor is available to help with problems concerning the planning of the study, or with study results. The mentor is also the first person to talk to when you are in doubt about your choice, or have problems adjusting to the Dutch system.
If you feel your mentor can’t help you, or want to talk with someone a bit more removed from your study, you might want to turn to the student general counseling service, or the student psychological counseling service.
