Clinical neuropsychology is concerned with how states and processes of the brain can lead to a variety of clinical pathology. A key issue in clinical neuropsychology is how patients have difficulties in planning, organizing and inhibiting their behaviour. This is called Executive Functioning. Children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)have been shown to have a variety of disorders, one of which is concerned with inhibitory control. A second dysfunction is concerned with inappropriate energetical allocation necessary for the execution of many cognitive functions. EF and their relation with energetic processes are a primary target of research. Patient groups of interest are patients with Parkinson\'s Disease, persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment and patients with Alzheimer\'s Disease. With the colleagues of this department, an attempt is being made to define the specific EF disorders of these syndromes and in relation to brain activation states. The primary intervention modality in this syndromes is pharmacology and studies are being conducted to determine the locus of the therapeutic effect of a variety of drugs in these disorders.
